Alpenfohn Matterhorn CPU cooler fan speed

Hi Folks, first post, and also first time purchaser from 3XS/Scan. Not without it's problems though, which are being dealt with at the moment via email.

This post is about the Alpenfohn Matterhorn CPU cooler that was fitted to my over-clocked i7 bundle and the fan speed when first starting from cold. Has anyone had any issues with having to drop the fan speed warning level in the BIOS ?

From cold the fan is starting at just under 600rpm and causes a warning at boot due to the default 600rpm BIOS setting. I've had to drop the BIOS setting down to 500rpm. From cold the fan speed is showing 580 to 590, and after a few moments it slowly rises to above the 600 mark.

Just curious as I'm hoping it is not an issue with the fan.

Re: Alpenfohn Matterhorn CPU cooler fan speed

Just checked on the Alpenfohn WEB site (should have have done it first really ) and it seems that the rpm ratings are from 500 (at 5v) to 1500 (at 12v), so assuming that from cold the Asus Fan control is at its lowest (not found out what that is yet) it could well be that the fan would start below 600.
