Hi,
I thought I'd try my luck here, I've sent numerous emails to Scan but nobody has responded - Carl said he'd get back to me as Lee didn't but not heard anything yet, although I only sent the email to Carl yesterday but desperately want to get this ordered now.
Firstly I’m seriously struggling deciding what to pick - AMD or Intel, I'm leaning towards Intel and the new Sandy Bridge as I gather this will be faster - however I'm not a gamer as such but do have a dabble every now and then. Primarily everyday use, also some video editing (home movies and the likes), thousands of photos stored but probably not so much editing of them, more organising. It will also be a media centre to watch videos on, play music etc. I have a variety of applications running too but I wouldn't say they are resource hungry, obviously burning DVDs will be the most.
Main reason for higher spec is to cover every eventually over the coming years, I won’t be getting another pc for a long time, nor upgrading parts so much. My current one is 6 years old (AMD Athlon 64 4000+)
I'm looking at the 3XS P67 Performance GTK with the Intel Core i5 2500K, 3.3Ghz, Quad Core, 6Mb Cache (£136.17), should I go for either Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3 or Asus P8Z68-V Pro - Intel Z68? What are the main differences other than the new chipset and BIOS?
My main question is SSD and HDD setup - I want a fast system and for this the OS would be installed on the SSD, however I've read that you can run this alongside a HDD and the performance will be the same - would this be both SSD and one HDD as system drives and not HDD storage?
Please please, I welcome any comments and advice, wife keeps saying 'you're not still looking at that computer are you?!'
