Advice on my choice of 3X System

    Hi there,

I am interested in this computer and I wanted thoughts please on any improvments that could be made. I am looking to spend between £450 - £500(bit more if required).

Currently this is what i am after:
System Case: Thermaltake Dokker Black Tower Case with built in HDD Hotswap Docking
Motherboard: Asus P8H61-M LE Intel H61 Chipset - USB3 Support
CPU: Intel Core i5 2400 Quad Core 3.1GHz 6MB Cache
    Memory - DDR3: 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair DDR3 - 1333MHz
Graphics Cards: 1GB XFX HD 6770 - Mid Level Card
Power Supply: 600W PSU Corsair Builder Series
System Drive: 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 16MB Cache
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-S222AB BEBE - 22x DVD Writer
Flash Card Reader: Akasa AK-ICR-10 - Multi Format Card Reader with HDD Support

I want to mainly video converting, photo editing, programming/development and i intend to play a few HD games on it. Correct me if I am wrong but I think the graphics card above will suffice?

    Cheers,

Apologies for the late reply, I can assure you this is not or usual level of service for support in this section, which seems to have lapsed from the usual standard but will not be an issue in future.

Can we still help you with this query or has this been resolved already?.

    best Regards

Re: Advice on my choice of 3X System

Thanks, I still need advice on this however I have noticed that V20 is no longer available when I visited the 3X System section.

Is it still possible for the original spec I specified in previous post to be built by Scan?

Also what is your terms and conditions for the Warranty for purchasing custom built PC's purchased from Scan?

    Thanks & Regards,

Re: Advice on my choice of 3X System

    Hi Philip,

I'm considering to build my own computer from scratch.

I've done some research and i've come with the following specification so far:

    CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K Unlocked, S1155, Sandy Bridge, Quad, 3.3GHz, HD3000 IGP 850Mhz, 6MB Cache 95W Retail
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3, Intel Z68, S 1155, DDR3, SATA III - 6Gb/s, RAID SATA, PCIe 2.0 (x16), VGA On Board, ATX
    Memory: 8GB (2x4GB) Kingston DDR3 HyperX Genesis Grey, PC3-12800 (1600), Non-ECC Unbuffered,
    System Drive: 1TB Seagate ST31000524AS Barracuda 7200.12, SATA 6Gb/s, 7200rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.5ms, NCQ
    Graphics Card: 1GB XFX HD 6770, PCIe 2.1 (x16), 4800MHz GDDR5, GPU 850MHz, 800 Cores, EyeFinity, Dual Link DVI-I/ HDMI/ D-Sub
    Optical Drive: AD-7261S-0B Sony AD-7261S-0B 24x DVD±R, 12xDVD±DL, DVD+RW x8/-RWx6 ,12xRAM SATA, Black, Lightscribe, OEM
Case: Coolermaster Elite 430, All Black, Mid Tower Case with Side Window 120mm Front LED Blue Fan w/o PSU
Power Supply:650W PSU, Coolermaster GX RS650-ACAAE3-UK, 85% Eff', 80 PLUS Bronze, SLI/CrossFire, EPS 12V, Quiet Fan, ATX v2.31

However I am not sure which motherboard to go for because I've also seen the
Asus P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68 Socket 1155 Motherboard. Could you advise?

Is my chosen optical drive and graphics card compatible with the motherboard because I had a look and it states SATA for the optical drive but on the motherboard spec it says SATA 3, SATA 6. Which one will it connect to?

Also the graphics card states PCIe 2.1 (x16) but both motherboards state PCIe 2.0(x16) so am i right in saying that it will work.

Also if you spot any issues with my current spec i would appreciate if you could advise please?

    Thanks in advance,
