    New PC build...will this be okay?

    The specs below have taken me over a year to sort but i think I have nearly got it right .

    I am hoping this will last me for the next three years of gaming , mostly RPG's and strategy Skyrim and such .

    I went with the i7 2700 as i plan on doing some Blue Ray authoring so assume this will speed up the process a bit?

    Does the Blue Ray writer I have chosen come with all the software i need to make Blue Rays ? i.e transfer my super 8 films to Blue-ray.

    Will the sound card be totally isolated from outside interference form the rest of my set up? I can not stand crackling when listening to music

    Has upgrading the motherboard done me any favours at all besides getting me a free game ?

    Will choosing the water cooling for cpu help quieten the system a great deal more than the other option? and is the set up I have chosen going to be pretty quiet overall?

    Is the 7970 by XFX particularly noisy compared to say my old 5870 ?

    The case i have totally gone for just for the looks... black is getting a bit boring

    Re: New PC build...will this be okay?

    In regards to your questions, please find the answers listed below ;

    1)I went with the i7 2700 as i plan on doing some Blue Ray authoring so assume this will speed up the process a bit?

    This depends really but seeing as the CPU has hyperthreading, you should see a little increase in the performance of the i7 2700K but its whether or not the applications your looking to use will use this technology to the full.

    2) Does the Blue Ray writer I have chosen come with all the software i need to make Blue Rays ? i.e transfer my super 8 films to Blue-ray.

    The blu-ray is a retail boxed unit and comes with software and this is as follows ;

    Super Multi Blue Install Disc
    -Power2Go
    -PowerDVD
    -PowerProducer
    -MediaShow
    -LabelPrint

    Will the sound card be totally isolated from outside interference form the rest of my set up? I can not stand crackling when listening to music

    The system will be tested as part of the 3XS build process. As such, any issues regarding the quality of the audio and crackling should not be there really.

    Has upgrading the motherboard done me any favours at all besides getting me a free game ?

    The upgrade to the P8Z68-V PRO does give more than a free game. You get a better UEFI for a start compared to the gigabyte motherboard and the additonal 2 SATA 6 GB/s ports on the marvel controller will come in handy in the future when you need to add more SATA 6 GB/s drives. I've personally got the P8Z68-V PRO myself and the features on it are superb especially the bluetooth overclocking application which I seem to play with on a daily basis at the moment. I also use all the asus management applications in their AI suite on a daily basis watching how much CO2 I've saved been generated and also the fan speeds and voltages.

    Will choosing the water cooling for cpu help quieten the system a great deal more than the other option? and is the set up I have chosen going to be pretty quiet overall

    Sometimes watercooling can generate more noise than aircoolers it really depends on the fans implemented on the radiator, but for the majority of the time they do run quieter than some aftermarket CPU coolers.

    Is the 7970 by XFX particularly noisy compared to say my old 5870 ?
    Cards nowadays should be quieter than the previous generations and if your going for one of the dual cooling cards with the hydrocell and ghost technology then these should be even quieter than the reference design.

    Oh yeah, if anyone else asks you, you've not gone for the white chassis just for looks alone, you've also opted for this model of chassis due to the uprated fans that are included with the white SE edition of the chassis making cooling slightly better than the standard black edition

    I actually spent a while looking over reviews and stuff myself and built a very similar system so I would say your picking the right hardware.

    Best Regards,

    Lee
