    Upgrades query

    Hello,

If an onsite warranty has been purchased, do Scan do onsite upgrades?

e.g. let's say in a year's time, I want a new graphics card. If I were to pay for the card and installation, would a Scan engineer pop round onsite and carry out the installation?

    Re: Upgrades query

Warranties usually only cover faults, changing the GFX card is an upgrade so I would doubt so, even if you got scansure it would cover damage you did.

Fitting A new card is so easy why would you need somebody to do it for you?

But would I be able to send the system back to you for an upgrade and then you send it back?

    Hi Cactus.

That's exactly what I have just done so I'm sure you'll be able to too.

I need to send mine back every year to 18 months for the flushing and refilling of the waterloop as I don't trust myself enough to do it and therefore generally time my upgrades to fit in with one of these as they are going to have the PC back anyway.

They will charge carriage for it I believe after the first year. At least with mine I had one water loop rebuild for free in the first year with free carriage but I don't think that's the case with non-watercooled systems. I assume it will be at least a couple of years before you want to do anything to it....unless it's to put another 680 in!

Pretty sure carriage is £35 each way so you'd have to add that on to any upgrade you did. That's the reason I tend to just do a big one every 2 to 3 years as opposed to one a year. Apparently they may also make a charge for cleaning the PC if it's really dusty inside before working on it but I'm sure you'll never let it get that bad

oooh me and dust - we don't get on :-)
Mortal enemies - am hoping my case will help with preventing dust - it has dust filters - not sure how much dust it will stop

    Re: Upgrades query

Looks to be a nice case

The dust filter on my Corsair 800D seems to stop the vast majority of it although I do try to keep that area of the room reasonably dust free anyway. Just requires a bit of a blow out once a month but even then there is practically no dust to speak of.

I'd just check that all the input fans have filters on them. That one at the side of the case if you're using it will require a very big filter!!!
