    Question hello

Ok I have been advised by a god friend to build my custom PC here and so far it looks good. Just a few questions if that is alright?

    Build time from placing order?

    Delivery how and when?

I read some thing about a special courier system for £35 any one care to explain?

Apart from that it looks good so far.

Sorry if these answers are elsewhere

    regards

    Terry

    Re: hello

    Hi Terry,

I'll answer what I can for you.

Build time I would expect to be between 2 weeks to a month depending on how busy they are and whether parts are in stock. Phoning Scan to ask for the lead time on a particular build should give you a more accurate ETA though.

Delivery is usually via a Netsolve courier. If you select the Unpack and unbox option (£35 but I think it's the same price as just having it delivered so there's no reason not to go for this) they will set it up for you and basically check it boots into Windows ok (assuming you select an OS) and that nothing is showing in the device manager as unrecognised. Alternatively you can have it delivered by DPD which is usually a day or two quicker but they will just drop it off at your front door.

As far as I am aware DPD will deliver pretty much anywhere. Netsolve should also deliver and setup pretty much anywhere although recently when I had mine upgraded due to a lack of Netsolve engineers / drivers in my area I had to have it via DPD. Might be worth checking at the time of ordering.

Scan give you an order number which you can use to track the build progress of your machine and they will also send you an email with the delivery date once it has been dispatched to you.

I would also like to say that I am very happy with the service and with my PC from Scan. I would definitely recommend buying from them and having a nice chat with one of their sales reps about what you want. They will spec up a PC that is just right for your budget for maximum performance, maximum quietness...etc whatever is most important to you

    Re: hello

To give you some idea of current lead times...

I ordered mine on 7th July. Trying to remember exactly what the email I received said now but roughly I was told it was booked in for a build slot on 24th and delivery potentially the end of that week so I guess 27th.

Past experience tells me not to be surprised if it actually takes a week longer at least as far as custom systems are concerned.

As for delivery, mine have always been delivered by the same guys that come round and do repairs if you have a fault etc. They basically hand deliver it in their own car. I would never want a system delivered by a regular courier, had that once with another PC builder and the courier had obviously been rough with the box causing the heat sink to shear off and trash practically every component within the PC during transit.

With my past orders their delivery guys called up to arrange a delivery once they have been handed my system. They tended to arrange delivery when they were in my area as I guess they quite logically group jobs up like that. So it was mostly delivered within a few days of their call.

TLDR: from ordering to it arriving at your door expect roughly 4 weeks.

    Re: hello

Nice to know that God recommends SCAN. My system took about a month. But its defiantly worth the wait the build quality and service is unmatched against any other company i have ever dealt with. The £35 is just the delivery price but that covers them coming in and setting it up for you. If that's what you want.

    Re: hello

TeeDee - so far my experience has been positive. Placed an order on 30/6/12. System going into build tomorrow - Therefore, I would expect delivery at some point next week.
Sales staff have been very helpful.
I like the onsite warranty aspect and the care Scan takes over the build process. These two aspects combined are hard to find elsewhere. Based on my experience so far and those experience of a colleague at work who has bought from Scan earlier this year, I would certainly recommend them.
