    Unhappy 3XS System Build time...

I ordered my shiny new PC in what I thought was plenty of time to arrive before christmas (20th November). I had the automated 10-day email reply, with another arriving soon after stating a build date of 10th December. I have to be honest, I was a little annoyed that scan give no idea to the long lead time on these systems, there's simply nothing to say that it could be a month from the order date before you receive what was ordered. Anyway, the 10th has been and gone and the build still hasn't started, I've had no contact at all from scan to say they are delayed or don't have the required parts so I'm totally in the dark. I sent an email to Philipp on Monday asking if he could confirm it was either on schedule or delayed and I am yet to garner a reply.

I appreciate you guys are busy, but from what I've read on these forums this kind of situation is a regular thing. Could I suggest a little more transparency and honesty? Tell your customer(s) it's going to take time before they order; "This is a highly specialised gaming system and as such will require at least three weeks to build!". Be more pro-active, let the customer know of any delays, don't give promises you can't possibly keep. You'll get two things in return; they'll not get pissed when you don't deliver and you will gain respect for being honest. This is simple business practice in my opinion. Now that my rant is over, any chance I could get some info on my build? I can give order number/build ref. if required.

    Many thanks,

    Carl.

    Re: 3XS System Build time...

I placed my order on the 11 November and my computer is only in the "memory test" stage. Has been since 9AM yesterday which is certainley a long RAM test!
My build date was 1-2 days late from the date that was given at the start.

    Re: 3XS System Build time...

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about, there's no real transparency with the customers it's all rather disjointed. If it's delayed, tell us it's delayed.. don't hope we wont notice (people waiting on thousand pound+ systems tend to notice). If you're still waiting on a RAM test and you ordered nine days before me, I'm rather disappointed. This could be a post-Christmas-Christmas-present. That was ordered almost six weeks in advance. I'm slightly amazed that scan have a four week plus build time.. a month to build a system? Had I of known I'd of gone with my normal first choice (overclockers) but I'd heard good things about the 3XS systems. I don't want to hate on scan, but this is my first ever order with them and I have to be honest; things are not good so far.

Oh well, the waiting continues. Good luck on your hunt for a 3XS system captowen!

    Re: 3XS System Build time...

I agree with you - the transparancy really does need to improve. I had a few problems at the start of my build (like them charging me twice for my system!) but that was all fairly painless to resolve.
But since the communication has been rather poor. I have always had to email them for updates as oppose to them ringing me. And you are right - this isnt just a cheap order there is thousands of pounds changing hands here.

Fingers crossed we both get our systems soon, hopefully yours should move into the build stage fairly soon!

    Re: 3XS System Build time...

Hi Philip, amazing as this may sound, no sooner did you reply to this post than did I receive an email to inform me my system is now being built. I'm entirely satisfied with this, of course, yet I still feel my few points are valid; clearer advice on how long these things take before you purchase. Don't be afraid of losing a sale, word of mouth brought me to scan and I'm sure it'll do the same to others. A little transparency and honesty go a long, long way. I wouldn't of even bothered registering and posting had you guys let me know you were running a few days behind on builds, I'm sure a quick mailshot to people awaiting a system build would alleviate a huge amount of pressure on not only your email account but phone support too! Also, I did email you on Monday afternoon, to which I didn't get any reply (I understand Mondays are awful for the weekend backlog). All this being said, I appreciate the prompt response, it's nice to know you guys are pro-active on these forums.

A little communication with us poor souls would no doubt help you guys out in the long run. Again, many thanks,

    Carl.

    Hey Guys-

Both myself and a friend had 3XS systems built by scan and all I can say is they are worth the wait. This forum is full of comments around the transparency Scan should adhere to but I think they have decided for Business reasons not to do so.

My system (and my friends) took 5 weeks in total (Payment to turning it on). There comes a point were you just have to accept that is takes a while and they are not likely to speed up -

But, once you get it- I can guarantee maximum awesomeness.

Hope this helps mate - and trust me I FEEL YOUR PAIN. lol

Heh, thanks Beetyd. I have no doubt it's worth the wait, it's just a damn long wait.. It's starting to look like it wont be a Christmas present as I was hoping, the wife will be upset if I have nothing to unwrap! I can wait, but the not knowing was pretty frustrating as I'm sure you can well remember

Funnily enough, 5 weeks from payment to turning it on.. would be Christmas day. Bugger

5 weeks sounds like it'll be about right for me (at least I hope it is). And yes, my last 3XS machine was and still is pretty damn fine.

Could I drive for 2 hours to get my system.. hmm.. Prolly! I'm not even sure if it'll be ready in time anyway, so it seems I'm destined to wait out. With the way the Christmas period goes, it'll probably be a new year delivery.. the horror! I've sent a quick email to Philip to see what the chances are but I'm guessing these guys are pretty swamped right about now
