FW on the audio Laptop? Plus a question about edu discount

Hi people,

Having music as my main hobby, I was looking to get a good laptop for music production. Since I'm a student, I got interested in a Macbook Pro because of the 6% edu discount.

Then after a little more research I found the Scan 3XS 15" DAW laptop. It sure looks great, but I do have some questions.

1. On your home page it says 'feel free to talk to us about our education pricing policy.' I filled in the contact form on the bottom of the page, but haven't received a reply yet. Could you guys tell a little more about the possibilities?
2. I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 as my audio device. I couldn't find if there are any FW-ports on this machine. Are there?

I think one of my sales guys may have already spoken to you, as I got asked these same questions yesterday but a quick response for you on here if needed.

The EDU pricing that you mention only applies normally to software and equiptment purchased by/for schools rather than a discount to students I'm afraid. I could ask whoever you deal with on the sales side to give you some extra consideration and see if we can make it a bit more budget friendly for you, but it isn't something we would normally do on these units.

2. I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 as my audio device. I couldn't find if there are any FW-ports on this machine. Are there?

Yes the are, but as with pretty much every laptop these days they don't use the Texas Instruments controller I'm afraid, so they won't work with the Focusrite Pro 24... it's one of the reasons I don't make a big deal about the FW on the unit!

Hi Pete, thank you for the reply. You're right, I have contacted the sales department with the same question. If the Focusrite doesn't work, I would need a replacement for that. Therefore I have contacted Carl about this.
