Scan 3XS Graphite LG5 Gaming Laptop - Questions on the laptop

Hi

I'm thinking of buying a new laptop and like the look of the Scan 3XS Graphite LG5 Gaming Laptop. Its portable due to the size but powerful enough to play games and use for opengl etc. I have some questions though

• Is the keyboard back lit? If not is it possible to add as an option?
• I'd like to run linux, has anyone done this and have they found any problems?
• Are any new models coming out in the near future (new Intel chips coming out soon)

In answer to your questions

1) Is the keyboard back lit? If not is it possible to add as an option? - No it cant be backlit the bigger Laptops 15" and Upwards are

2) I'd like to run linux, has anyone done this and have they found any problems? - We have no knowledge of this unfortunately

3) Are any new models coming out in the near future (new Intel chips coming out soon) - We have no definite ETA on new models at the moment

Can you also confirm if the screen is the gloss or matte version?

The screen on our LG5 is the matte version as we've found this to be more comfortable to use for extended periods.

Can I get a US keyboard as an option & if so how much would it add to price & lead time?

We can get a US keyboard though the leadtime as they are ordered throgh Clevo from the US is 2-3 weeks
Price is around the £30+ Vat mark

Interestingly I also emailed queries@scan.co.uk & the response from there was;

At the moment we do not offer any other layouts on the laptops we build other than the UK layout.

I need the laptop before the end of the month though, so I have gone ahead & ordered it with just the UK keyboard. Can you tell me if I will void the warranty if I were to source a US keyboard & fit it myself at a later date? Also do you know of any reasons (eg stock shortages) that the 5-day build might not be met? I'm flying to Boston on the 31st & need it before then

Please email your invoice number to systemsupport@scan.co.uk and i will checkwith the guys in build that all parts are available for the build and if there are any issues that could delay the build

I have a direct contact at Clevo and thats why I could answer you with reference to the US keyboard lead time

I will check and get back to you about fitting your own keyboard

Well that's extremely disappointing. The laptop chassis itself is out of stock until May 30th, yet the website still allowed me to make the order, charged my card & told me that build time would be 5 business days. Frankly I've come to expect better from Scan. All I can hope for now is a prompt refund whilst I find a different stockist that won't screw me around like this.
