Malfunctioning PSU and/or MOBO? Fried connector.

Hi Scan,

I bought an ASUS P8Z68-VGEN3 mobo 05/11/2011. I also bought a corsair 850W CORSAIR CMPSU-850HXUK from you from you on the 03/01/2011.

Everything has run well (bar some GPU issues you resolved for me) and it has been stable for years apart from that. I've never bothered to overclock anything as it was all running fast enough anyway.

Over the last couple of months the pc started to randomly shut down. I tried swapping out all the components bar the PSU, MOBO and CPU to find out what was happening and this evening finally got round to digging the PSU out of my wifes machine and started fitting it to mine.

When I unplugged my psu I discovered that one of the PSU connectors has melted off damaging the mobo connectors too.

My question is how do I go about getting the mobo and PSU replaced? The PSU has a 7 year warranty and the mobo 3 years. Is this dealt with through yourselves?

I've not overloaded the PSU as the corsair calculator recommended a 750W model and so I bought an 850W to give me some headroom. The case has excellent ventilation (Coolermaster Stacker) and I've never seen high temps on any component.

Am I going to run into a problem proving which was the faulty unit, and getting them both replaced. I really don't think I can run a fire damaged motherboard, and the psu obviously needs replacing. Any advice on this?

Oh I forgot to add that when I turned on the Asus mother board power spike protection in the bios I would get a message maybe 1 time in 5 saying that the machine had been shut down upon monitoring a power surge.
