Another question, see if you can help dave, do i go for home premium 32bit ? or home premium 64bit ? im still on XP, i don't believe in vista

Will probs just dump a 1gb stick of xms2 pc5400 in at the moment, should cope with recording tv ? doesn't have too much money and ide rather not go OTT to begin with...although he would end up with 2gb eventually...reason i ask is vista ^^^

I'll start by saying Vista runs much better on 2gb than 1, but buying 1x1gb Stick is probably the best path if you are on a budget

With regards to the choice of 32bit vs 64bit, I'd choose 32bit at the moment, due to better driver support, but 64bit has the greater potential (mainly if you want to run more than 3gb of RAM). I'd go for the OEM version, rather than retail, btw.

Oh, and XMS2 is all very nice, but the Corsair value ram is just as good if you aren't after fancy heat spreaders
