Advice from Scan - Corsair 520HX DSR and returns

    Hi,

Can someone at Scan comment on this scenario. If I were to buy a HX520W and find it to buzz/whine annoyingly (some people over at SPCR and Corsair forums have tried 2 or 3 units via RMA with little sucess and some have been ok).

Am I within my rights to return it within 7 days under DSR for a full refund? I suppose its possible for me to try the PSU out of the case, and without modular cables just to spin it up and listen for idle noise outside of the case, I would not have to unpackage cables etc.

It could also be argued if it buzzes/whines that its not fit for purpose or satisfactory quality under the sale of goods act when its marketed as a "whisper quiet" PSU.

I can't seem to get to the bottom if its a combination of hardware, duff batches from Corsair and/or other issues.

I may buy a unit and its perfect but if not I dont want to get into a lottery of a "might" get a quiet unit and RMA'ing over and over again.

    Thanks,

    Mike

You can inspect the goods and then reject them under the DSR if you are unhappy with the unit, do as you have said connect outside of the case.

You would however be responsible for the return postage.

    Best Regards

    Edit

Also unpacking the modular cables isn’t a issue.

    Phil,

Yeh, I appreciate being responsible for the return postage. No problems. Any ideas how much they weigh?

    Cheers,

    Mike
