    Re: new psu

If you are looking for a modular PSU I would suggest the Silverstone DA650 or if non-modular is OK then the OP650. They both have a single powerful 12V rail rated at 54A so there is 648W available on the 12V rail.

    Here are indepth reviews of both;

    DA640
    OP650

What are you're specs, hard to know what you need if we don't know what it's got to power.

    But if it can survive a 400w qtec . . .

£40-50 would be what you're aiming at, £100 is going to be massive overkill.
If you want modular the corsair HX 520w will be great @ £62
    Non modular
FSP Blue storm II w400 £49.34
    Akasa Pax power 400w £50.51

400W SilverStone Strider £39.95 I know SilverStone come well recommended not sure about this model

EDIT: some of the cheaper FSP or Akasa should be ok as well, I just mentioned the Blue storm II and Pax power are the higher quality models.
Also should mention the Seasonic S12 but scan are currently out of stock on the 420w version £50.51

I would assume he/she needs a more powerful PSU because I would assume the melting connectors are a sign that the PSU is really being thrashed. But I could be wrong.

    Re: new psu

I really hope that you don't have a spec that demands a QUALITY 600W PSU because running those high end components with a 400W QTec unit would be tantamount to stupidity. Just my opinion.

I'd recommend either Corsair or Seasonic as well. Enermax also worth considering. Again the actual model and wattage will depend upon your spec.

    Re: new psu

its not that high end specs are e6600, asrock dual vsta, 2 gig corsair ddr 2 pc5300 i think, radeon 9800 pro couple of hard drives and a dvd burner. Im going to buy a new gfx in the next few months as well probadly something like a 8800

I only brought the psu because i was skint and needed one badly!

Im reluctant to buy the corsair psu's because of the rma process, i know there setting up a site in the uk but that could take ages

Is the PSU and/or Graphics Card overclocked or do you plan to overclock either when you get the new PSU?

    Re: new psu

Also have you got a case with the PSU positioned at the top or the bottom of the case because cable length can sometimes be an issue if the PSU is at the bottom and you have to be more selective.

Scan seem to deal with the Corsair HX520/HX620 RMA's for the 5 year warranty period, I had the same concerns as yourself. However, noticed under the warranty tab on the Scan product page that it was RTB for the full five years.

Spoke to customer services, well their RMA/Returns dept. and was told that was the case. You would be liable for the postage back to Scan if I remember correctly.

This should give a sigh of relief to people who purchased the PSU's from Scan, provided Scan honour their word, touch wood!

If that is the case and there is no plan to overclock I would suggest this; it is out of stock but if the eta is reasonable it is one to consider. Here is the recent jonnyGURU review. It has a single powerful 12V rail rated at 33A so its low overall power output isn't a big issue.
