Asus Blitz Formula SE Dead after 2 days

    Title says it all really.

Well I suppose not all. I may be at fault as the motherboard failed due to a corrupted bios caused by me running Asus Update with the latest bios files. So, I have two questions:

    1. Given the circumstances of faliure, does this come under warantee?

    2. If yes, do I send for a replacement from Scan or Asus?

If you have no luck, I can reflash your BIOS for you provided you pay postage both ways

Re: Asus Blitz Formula SE Dead after 2 days

The Asus forums are full of people having problems with Asus Update, the moral to the story (which is too late for you now ) is to never flash Asus boards in Windows, the failure rate is far too high.

The board should be covered by warranty, you did nothing wrong. Its Asus and its dodgy windows flash software, users on the Asus member forums are crying out for Asus to post warnings or stop issuing BIOS updates using Asus Windows Update until the problems are fixed.

Scan should cover the warranty for the motherboard, according to Asus tech sites you deal with the retailer on motherboard warranties.

My board has died for other reasons (P5K Deluxe) which I didnt buy from Scan, the retailer of the board is dealing with my claim.

Yup, or you can use the EZbios flash from the post screen.

Re: Asus Blitz Formula SE Dead after 2 days

Have done, thanks for the prompt response. I was dreading having to send it back to Asus. Just to check before I kill the next board, what's the BIOS like for flashing from USB? It's just I don't actually have a floppy drive.

Thankyou very much for the offer, looks like it won't be needed though.

Incidentally, does anybody know what I need to do about Vista OEM, given that that's already been activated on the dead mobo?

I flashed my P5B deluxe from a USB stick and it was great, very quick and simple.

I did that when my mobo died within a week, and replaced it. Vista did require re-activation - didn'tthink for a second that it would have noticed, but it did! Had to ring up Microsoft to get a new activation code.
