    7200.11's?

Any idea when the less ridiculously priced part of the range will be available/in stock?

Also don't suppose you've tested any of the new 250gb 7200.10's that are single platter with apparently the same .11 platters? i'm tempted to get a few of those for raiding but, not sure if the chips/pcb from the .10 series will limit the speed of the better platter. if you had one kicking about and fancied whacking it in a machine and running hdtach to see what kinds of speed a single drive can get, i wouldn't stop you

    cheers

These now appear to be in stock

As for performance, I cannot really comment until I've had chance to play with one which might be a while.

    Best Regards,

    Re: 7200.11's?

sorry i meant more along the lines of the 500gb and more importantly price wise there isa 7200.10 250gb replacement version out(i think seagate still ship both the old and new version). old version has the normal code and has 2 smaller old platters in, the newer one has code (ST3250410AS) and has a single 250gb platter in. new higher density platter means its actually a way smaller drive, and faster sustained transfer, assuming the electronics aren't different to the actual 7200.11 drives which might limit the transfer speeds possible -- rumours are the new ones are certainly faster.

mainly as i want to go raid the 250gb, and price appeals, and they are available already from a couple uk stores.

don't ask me why they didn't just call it a 250gb 7200.11, that would only have made it easier for , you know, everyone to work out whats going on, and what they are buying

    Re: 7200.11's?

At the moment don't have any information on the stock system or purchasing system as to where the smaller series of the 7200.11 series would be arriving in stock.

    Best Regards,
