MSI P35 Platinum (Scan) Mic troubles

Recently build this new computer. at first i was using my mic for programs such as ventrilio, the next day my friend said it sounded very quiet and soon after that it stopped working completely, tried my head set in a different computer as well as another mic, they both work. i have the Antec p182 case it neither works in the front or back ports ( even though they go to the same place) so i'm guessing its a fault with the motherboard ?.

(i bought all the parts from scan including the Motherboard)
