Post Will this Scan case fit my motherboard?

    Hi all

    First post!!!

I already logged a question with scan, after I saw this forum I thought I would get a quicker repsonse.

I've got my eye on this case (it seems I can't post URL's, searching for TM982, description is "Asus TM982 Black MicroATX Case with 400w aPFC PSU") which I see says Micro ATX.

I already own a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 and was wondering if the case above would fit my motherboard and other peripherals (nothing fancy, I hard drive, vid card, DVD writer). Also, would the PSU have the connector required to run a new 880gt, I believe its the PCI-E connector?

    Thanks

the P35-DS3 is full ATX so larger than mATX, in other words it won't fit.

Thanks, I've picked one on the Mixit deals instead

MI: Xclio 6010 Black (Silver Alumin Front) Midi Tower Case + 400W EZCool Power Supply

That should be fine I guess?

tbh I would get a better PSU, the EZ-Cool isn't good.

    I've found this one:
400w Silverpower SP-400P2C thermal controlled cooling fans

Decent? And I see it has PCI-E connectors

Re: Will this Scan case fit my motherboard?

you don't give the rest of your system specs. or budget but with a p35 & an 8800GT you are going to want something decent so I would be expecting to pay £50 plus.
probably something like the Corsair HX520 or Silverstone Strider 560W.

& at this rate you'll get your free Hexus/SCAN carriage offer soon

Re: Will this Scan case fit my motherboard?

Thanks, I'm trying to future proof a bit, I havent got a high-end card at the moment (7600gt) but want to upgrade and maybe overclock a bit. So trying to pick a decent PSU now. My budget isnt huge, wasnt loooking to spend more than £50 on the PSU and case...

Will 400W suffice for the meantime? Basically I have an e6300, Gigabyte DS3R, 500gig HDD, 7600GT, DVD writer and 2gig RAM, nothing too fancy...

    Thanks

Re: Will this Scan case fit my motherboard?

well, with the Mixit offer you are effectively getting that PSU for £3 as the normal price for the case is £27.
What do you get for £3?
& you are trusting several hundred pounds worth of gear to it ...

    Hi

I'd certainly follow BUFF's recommendation on buying a quality PSU. To me, sorting out a decent case & PSU is the most difficult part of selecting bits for a build. I've used a few Antec NSK series cases lately that come with the well reviewed Antec EarthWatt 380 or 430 watt PSUs. These cases are very well made and the PSUs are quiet and reliable.

Should I trust the 400w Silverpower SP-400P2C to my gear?

450W Corsair VX is future proof and a Coolermaster RC-331 Elite case for under £72 a bit over your £50 but decent.

Thanks, Scan has the Corsair VX which goes for £43, so I've gone for that.

:| £50... on a case AND a PSU, :| i personally buy the best available, i would recommend an enermax PSU they're more expensive but the can definitely perform and if you wana future-proof you'll NEVER do it on budget parts, my PSU was only £212 when I bought it... and I thought the case was budget at only £170
