    New Power Supply Needed

Basically mine went bang at 04:30am Thursday morning.

So I am now PC-less and so forced into using Hex's machine.

Suggestions for a power supply for a socket A Athlon machine that is not prohibitively expensive (i.e. around £40)?

450W Corsair VX Series PSU available online from Scan Computers UK...cracking value @ £43.85, and in stock, apparently. Be a great base if you ever upgrade.

    400W FSP ATX-400PNF available online from Scan Computers UK...certainly worth a look @ £32.49

Theres a Silverstone 350w on Scan that should be fine aswell.

Or I've seen lots of Seasonic 300w PSUs (20 pin) on ebay for about £8 delivered.

    Re: New Power Supply Needed

I was looking at that gigabyte one just now, sounds dodgy thouhg for that price. I would stick with the 400W FSP that godsdog pointed out. And unfortunately it's not on Today Only atm but it was yesterday I think (?)

Whadda we know? Seasonic build for Corsair and FSP build for OCZ. I'd go FSP too.

    Re: New Power Supply Needed

Scan seem to be having some major issues in the last week or two. The old FSP PSU in my mates PC is having major issues too and so I ordered a FSP ATX-400PNF last Sunday(18th) and it was in stock. It is still in stock and as of today(5 days later) it has not even been ALLOCATED. I have no clue when they are going to send it now!

Even if it is FSP you gotta wonder about the building down to a price point factor with it. I'd still pay the extra 7 odd quid for the 400PNF over it.

    Re: New Power Supply Needed

Hmm interesting, total output is rated at 400w though so it seems it's peak 460w as opposed to "true" 460w. Anyone wanna buy one and test it out ? ;D
