    Question Samsung F1 Series

Scan, any indication as to when you will be getting the new Samsung F1 edition Sata drives in, especially the 320GB model?

    Thanks

    Andy

    Re: Samsung F1 Series

I've just ordered another 4 of these from a uk company (the last 8 i got came from a german company - but +20 quid each), the last time i did that from a uk company i got the HD321KJ's and i returned them for a refund. Some of the companies of trying to cash in and hope you don't notice, a few of them even say "model number may vary" and one of them has called it a HD322HJ Spinpoint T - which is wrong and i expect it's the T model, not the F1. I'll let you know if they are actually F1's (i did email first and verify).

I think samsung may have a problem with it's odd sized platters - they definitely made some, but i think they have changed the design or something due to reliability problems, so if you do get some avoid raid 0 (which has no gains unless your reading/writing huge files constantly) and make sure you check the smart data and do backups of important stuff. There covered by warranty and i only store important data on one of the drives anywho

    Re: Samsung F1 Series

I got my 4 from overclock.co.uk £205 for 4 inc shipping & vat, and they were indeed the F1 series. However, the page that had them has now been removed, and the item is not even listed anymore so i imagine they have 0 stock. This again goes to my theory that production was stopped with reliability problems for the odd sized platters. I imagine their will be a delay before they start shipping again in large numbers!

    Re: Samsung F1 Series

I'm waiting on the SAMSUNG F1 320GB single platter (HD322HJ ) ... none anywhere, someone said they may have been pulled by Samsung, they were listed on a few sites then they vanished.

    Re: Samsung F1 Series

I too was after the 320Gb version, although this seems to have completely disappeared from the Internet. I think I'll have to go for either the WD single platter 320gb drive or the Seagate, although I don't think Scan stock either of these.

Scan, might you be able to stock other single platter 320Gb drives?
