    Nvidia coolmaster stacker latch broke

i bought a Nvidia special edition coolmaster stacker in January and since day 1 it has rattled all the messing in the world i couldn't find out why till the other night when i had to remove a stick of ram i found that one of the catches that locks the internal fan door was fractured i only noticed it because it was late and i was using a torch and it lit up I'm not saying that this was the cause but it could be.

So i fired off an email to scan expecting them to send me a new internal fan door and basically i was told i was on my own by email and to try coolmaster in Holland. So i rang up scan and was put through to returns where i spoke to someone who thought that this case was not meant to be upgraded in anyway and that because i upgrade my stuff that i had broken it myself this guy from the very first moment had no intention of helping me and was very rude he would not have it that the latch had a defect and in the end it was a near argument as he had no intention of sending me another door. He fobbed me off in the end by telling me he would have a look for one the next day and email me that he had sent it this never happened.

This case cost me the best part of £200 10 months ago plus 6 or 7 green coolmaster 120mm fans at £6 each all from scan and it is still under warranty and was sold as a high end case for people who upgrade there component's regularly yet I'm told that when i finished the initial build i shouldn't have touched it again and should expect inferior build quality when i buy one of there most expensive cases.

These cases are made to be tool free to make upgrades as easy as possible every time you need access to your motherboard you have to open this fan door so its a critical component of the case and gives 80% of its cooling properties its obviously going to rattle if the latch is broke especially with 4x120mm fans rotating 24 hours a day in it but it should be built to stand that punishment or its not up to the task. I wouldn't mind they may not sell the special edition Nvidia model anymore but the other stacker's have the exact same fan door and it should be up to scan to sort this out for me i can send them a picture if they think I'm a liar.

tottally irrelevant but im also not happy with mine, there were on USB headers from the front to connect to the motherboard and i also get that rattling every now and then which is rather annoying.

the front door is wobbly and loose and the side doors and kinda bent and take quite a bit of time to actually slide on.

overall not the best £160 quid i best

me either my missis hates it she says its an eye sore but it still doesnt change the fact that it shouldnt be like it and that at 10 months old its upto scan to sort the dodgey parts.I wouldnt buy another coolmaster case no matter how good it was i expected at least decent build quality but the aluminum its made from is waffer thin all in all a **** case at a sky hight price just because it says nvidia on it.

Them catches do look a bit breakable...thumbscrews I think would have been better.

Bad design flaw is all I can say.

Agreed they are not fit for such an high end case and thumb screws would have been way better.

Re: Nvidia coolmaster stacker latch broke

it wont cost you much to get a new catch from the CM shop, otherwise you can always email coolermaster and ask if they wouldnt mind sending you a new catch FOC, they have been good to me in the past when the reseller wasnt an option

buy for a few quid you may get sorted faster from the shop http://www.coolermaster.nl/shop/
