Re: ICY BOX 3.5" sata enclosure

Or as an alternative, have a look at this

AKASA P2 Series 3.5" e-SATA/ USB-Quad Int. Combo Ext. Black Aluminum SATA/IDE Encl.

I prefer them to the Icybox cases, although I haven't tried that particular out you referd to. The ones I've used had dodgy power connectors, the Akasa ones are much more sturdy and less likely to get pins bent or just fall out while in use.

Out of curiosity how come the link to scan goes via http://redirectingat.com ?

The forum is catching all the URLs and feeding them through that. If the link is to a site that offers referral payments (play.com for example) then the owner of the redirectingat.com account will get the referral fees. Just like Quidco, but this auto traps URLs instead of having to go through it manually.

Re: ICY BOX 3.5" sata enclosure

Thanks for explaining as when i first clicked the link the webpage crashed this end at redirectingat.com and i had to click refresh to get to scan and i've never noticed it before so i wasn't sure if the link was supposed to go via them or if i had a problem with my PC with a DNS Hijack as i have been playing with alot of shareware apps that have made a right mess.

If i hadn't of got stuck at redirectingat.com i dare say i wouldn't even taken any notice of it.

Oh no feel free! Any other suggestions would be nice. My brother has the same enclosure as pictured, noticed it was a tad noisy when he had it. Any free standing ones would be perfect. £30 delivered, anything over 20ex vat i get free delivery on anyways.

What about this? Looks pretty sleek.

    EDIT:

I accidentally pressed buy now its bought haha!

At some point i wouldn't mind a docking station so you can just drop in the sata drive you like.

Re: ICY BOX 3.5" sata enclosure

I have both of those docks

I now have two eSATA ports on my server, so hooking the second one up permenantly should make some of my data transfers a lot easier.

Need to put the first one up for sale, along with a bunch of other stuff at some point. Perhaps I'll get round to it after I move.

Oh, and one of these would be good:

Shame they don't do small back plates to cover the printed circuit boards on the back of the Hardrives.

have a sumvision external pod and it has a plastic plate that clips into the pod base that does very similar to that when the disk is in place!

    welcome,
yes! got one of those too, by icybox and also tried the antec is it with front esata pass through
with the antec one the drive sticks out a little bit and can rattle about a touch if you transport the pc best to take out the drive, easy enough to do of course!

both very handy so long as you have enough free bays and sata connectors

    I'm using StarTech ones.

Abit on the cheap side but they work.
