    New Build

Hello, this is my first time building a computer so I would like to know what you think of my spec and if i should change anything to make it better.

Case Silverstone Temjin TJ07B-W V2, Black, Aluminium Full Tower Case with Window ATX/E-ATX/SSI (w/o PSU) £223.21
    Motherboard Asus P6X58D-E, Intel X58, S1366, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), DDR3 2000 (OC), SATA 6Gb/s, SATA RAID, ATX £149.91
    CPU Intel Core i7 950 Bloomfield 45nm, 3.06 GHz, QPI 4.8GT/s, 8MB Cache, 23x Ratio, 130W, Retail £227.89
    RAM 6GB (3x2GB) Corsair XMS3, DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600) Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, 1.65V £92.97
    PSU 850W Corsair CMPSU-850HXUK, ATX, EPS12V, Modular, UK Version - 7 Year Warranty £129.23
    Hard Drive 1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3, SATA 3Gb/s, 7200rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.9 ms, NCQ, OEM £42.28
    Graphics Card[s] 1GB EVGA GTX 460 SC, 3800MHz GDDR5, GPU 763MHz, ShaderClock 1526MHz, 336 Cores, 2x DL DVI-I/MiniHDMI x2 £334.78
    Cooler Corsair Hydro Series H70 High-performance CPU Cooler, LGA1156, 1366, 775, AM2/AM3 £77.53
    DvD Drive Sony AD-7260S-0B 24x DVD±R, 12xDVD±DL, DVD+RW x8/-RWx6 ,12xRAM SATA, Black, OEM £13.98

TOTAL £1,338.75 (Including VAT, Carriage and Scansure)

    1. I know the case is expensive but ive always like the design, however if you do recommend another case i will look and it and take it into consideration.
    2. Ive had a look at the benchmarks and it seems that 2, 1GB Nvidia 460's is better than a 480 so thats why ive chosen them. My question is that should i go for the two 460's or should i get a 480 and save up later for a second 480 and Sli them.
    3. A simple question is the power supply big enough for the two 460's (or 2 480's)
    4. As a gamer would i be better getting a SSD to go with the 1tb HDD?
    5. Is there anything ive missed or need as this is my first build.

    Thanks in advance

    Steven

Personally i wouldnt bother with the H70, i own the h50..its alright, but i dont think i would buy another. There are better air coolers out there for less money.

The TJ07..whilst being a good case, is quite dated, hence why i bought an 800D.

An SSD would be better for obvious reasons, however the F3 certainly isnt a slow drive.

Have you ever built a PC before ? I only live down the road from you, if you need a hand i would be more than happy to help. ( Built 100's of pc's over the years ),

    Re: New Build

    Hey modd1uk

Thanks for the reply, yeh i was unsure about the cooler i was looking at some reviews on the h50 and the h70 and they didnt seem to great. What air coolers would you reccomend?

I was set on the Tj07 but i have to say the 800d does look very nice, is the 800d still ok might consider it. The inside does look alot better than the tj07.

Yeh this would be my first build and i was looking for someone to give me a hand so if i decide to go for it your help would be much apprecited
