Ordered a 3XS system via website (total cost £2600 or so including VAT), and chose to pay £30 or so to get it delivered on a Saturday. Saturday 21st August I believe. Took out a 9 months interest free credit option because... interest free!

Well, turns out that applying for credit wasn't an instant process, relying on snail mail and so forth. Fine. I don't move until 4th August, and at no point in the ordering process was there any mention of delays, goods out of stock etc. Had I been aware that on 6th August build wouldn't have even started, I would have just not ordered, or waited until after I moved.

Called today to advise of new address: apparently that's a problem because of the finance. Not really my problem though? Also, not likely to see the system until at least next week. But then I will be back in work... Sad times.

Turns out only the case is out of stock. I suggested swapping in the next one up. Nice gesture of goodwill given the size of the delay so far, etc. Yep, next case up isn't a problem and you will charge me the difference? That's not goodwill. That's just... making me sadder.

Told the gentleman I was speaking to that I'd just like to cancel my order then, and be returned to the state I would be in had I not ordered (which I wouldn't have if I'd been advised at any point that there would be a 2-4 week gap between ordering and receiving). He couldn't deal with that so had to end the call and get someone to call me back.

While I wait, I type. And smoke. Scan, you have driven me back to cigarettes after 17 days without. That makes me sad too.

Can someone help me away from the Dark Side? Please? Because sadness leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. And smoking will make me sound like Darth Vadar.

"if I'd been advised at any point" = at any point during the process of making the order, or before the 10% deposit had been taking from my account, or before the finance agreement had been set up.

Email received from David on 6 Aug, 12:35. "We are currently in contact with the Finance company, to see if and what can be sorted in regards to your change of address. We will update you as soon as we have any further information on this matter."

No further contact regarding delivery to new address.

Contacted by Adamb from customer services on Tue 7th at 11:53. "We can swap the titanium case you ordered for a silver one which we have in stock." That's fine by me, although one wonders whether this was an option BEFORE I started complaining - perhaps my order could have been fulfilled almost immediately had there been better communication of stock issues / timing at time of ordering? He advised that this swap meant my system could now go ahead and be built. Adamb emailed to confirm the swap shortly after. I replied "Thanks. Do you have an estimated date of completion / passing to DPD?". No response.

Today, Thurs 9th: Just got off the phone with customer services. The gentleman I spoke to was a little unsure what was going on with my order and is getting Phil to call me back. Hopefully this will happen. My email to Phil on 29 July at 8:31am requesting an invoice for this order was never replied to. As I said, the person I spoke to was a little unsure what was happening, but advised that it appeared build had not yet started on the system.

Doesn't look like Scan are going to get this to me before I have to go back to work.

Yes, we are still awaiting an update from the finance company.

Update: Sopke to Phil yesterday, 9th Aug. Short version: "I will move mountains to get this computer to you by Saturday."

Phil called again today, 10th Aug at 11:45. "Computer is built and has passed stress tests. We are shipping and it will be with you tomorrow."

I have renamed Phil as "Power Phil, he who Gets Things Done".

So, assuming the system gets delivered tomorrow, this will be my last post on this thread. Good job Scan, and Phil, for turning things around.
