    Unhappy Zip Drive Desktop Icons

I would be most gratefull if anyone can help me with the following. ?

I have recentely formatted my Hdd.
I used to have two Icons displayed on my Desktop,
also displayed when I clicked on my Computer, both were titled D: & E:.

After my recent format I now have four icons displayed when I click on
    My Computer, titled D: E: F: G: ?.
The default appears now to be F: & G:, regardless of my trying to rename them as the original D: & E: ?.
D: should be for my internal Zip which replaced my Floppy Drive A:,
E: was for my second backup external Usb Zip Drive.

    Can anyone solve my problem.
    Thank You.

    OS. Win XP Pro.
    Regards.
    Harry.

When you formatted you need to do it with the minimum of drives install. So once your machine was formatted, plug your drives in and they should appear as D and E (you would need to configure them one by one)

    Did you change OS?

LoL.. If you instaled windows with the zip and stuff hooked up then windows chose to assing them the letters! Dont change them!!! It could cause some programs to not work!

My HD was labeled F: last time! I had a media reader instaled! so it got labled first!

    Zip Drive Icons

    Hi', r1zeek,

    Thanks for your reply,
I was not aware that I needed to unplug my drives to enable me to use the same drive letters.

I am afraid that at 68yrs. old, Pensioners do tend to start to lose there abilities to keep up with modern technology.

Also being disabled my computer really is my only means of relaxation, and
it certainly gives me a lot of pleasure when it is working right.

So I take it I must do a reformat again, what I cannot understand is that in the past I have done the same format in the same way and never had this problem before.

Finaly no I did not change my OS, if by that you mean changing from XP Pro.

    The mind just Boggles.

    Best Regards.
    H.

    The following guide might be of use and should help you in changing the drive letters back to what you want them to be ;
