Seagate 3TB warranty now 2 years?

Can you confirm if the warranty with the 3TB Seagate drives you sell, now comes with 2yr warranty as the site says 1yr, but apparently Seagate have since increased all warranties to 2 years?

I emailed SCAN with the same question a few days ago, unfortunately they said their stock still only has 1 year warranty so I'm going to buy them elsewhere.

Re: Seagate 3TB warranty now 2 years?

I did the same and they said the first year is with them and the 2nd year with seagate. However on another forum, someone said they bought one from scan and when they put the serial into the Seagate website, it did say 2 years on it.

Can SOMEONE from Scan please confirm either way.....

They didn't mention a second year at all when I asked, just "The stock we have is a 12month warranty.". Would be nice if somebody from SCAN can confirm since different sales people are giving different answers.

Re: Seagate 3TB warranty now 2 years?

On checking the stock we have I can confirm that all the 3TB Seagate drives have a 12 month warranty only.

Hope this clears up any confusion.

Re: Seagate 3TB warranty now 2 years?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I had thought EU directive 1999/44/EC automatically gave a two year standard warranty for any goods bought within the EU?

Shouldn't all products sold by Scan have this as a minimum?

The legislation quoted above has not been adopted by the UK as of yet.

Re: Seagate 3TB warranty now 2 years?

Just wanted to update this... I purchased one from SCAN anyway ST3000DM001 (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3tb-s...he-8ms-ncq-oem). It arrived today, I put the serial/model into the seagate warranty checker and it lists "In Warranty: Expiration 30-Nov-2014" (just over 2 years).

Obviously this may not be the case for all the stock, but some of it definitely has a 2 year warranty.

Re: Seagate 3TB warranty now 2 years?

Has anyone else bought any and found that they are 2 years? It would be good to know as it is the only thing holding me from buying one from Scan.

Re: Seagate 3TB warranty now 2 years?

    If you check the following link, you will see that both WD and Seagate revised their warranties just after the flooding incidents last year ;

Re: Seagate 3TB warranty now 2 years?

Yes I know this which is why I am asking, my question is are all of these drives sold by Scan now coming with a 2 year warranty as the website and earlier post suggest otherwise. Hence the confusion.
