    Identity Proof

    WTF?

Sorry, but ive used Scan a lot, and never had this happen. I ordered a few bits, after my last ordeal i decided to give them another chance.

Now, I've been sent an email asking for evidence i am who it says on my card? "eg driving license or passport" hints that you want photographic ID?

    1) I do not have any photographic evidence as my driving license has been lost.
    2) Why would anyone need photographic evidence? Bank doesnt store that.
    3) I dont have a scanner nor a fax machine.

So, before i cancel it and forever take my orders elsewhere, can anyone here doing anything about it?

    Thanks

The best thing to do is give the guys in payments a call and tell them your circumstances and they will see if there is anything they can do to assist you further.

The main reason this is asked for is sometimes orders placed over a certain amount do not fully match the AVS checking system we use here, or the goods are to be delivered to an alternative address and this is one of the checks put in place to safeguard your cards safety and also to prevent losses of rather expensive equipment.

Not being funny - surely you should be happy about this? Makes sure they are monitoring what is happening and that your card isn't being used for fraud or stolen?

I know you have placed several orders in the past (as I have dealt with yourself previously) however for fraud prevention circumstances we need the additional proof to ensure that the card holder placed the order and to ensure that the transaction isnt fraudulent.

I do appreciate the frustration that you may be feeling has as you state you have placed orders in the past, however I have spoken to the payments department and also management and been advised we WILL NOT ship the goods until the identification has been received.

If you wish to discuss this further then please feel free to contact the payments department on 0870 755 4747 option 1

Hmmm im curious why would a company want photo ID? they cant compare it to anything since they cant see you... Im guessing they put Driving Licence / Passport becuase they are the most common goverment issued ID?

Overall its annoying but good that they go to these lenghts to stop fraud... ive had it done to me and its not nice! however Scans ability not to send my order to work even tho the address was registered with my bank made me order my PC from somewhere else

    Hi

Mainly because ID such as Phone, Gas bills can be easily doctored and passport or driving licence cannot.

Theres no way i can get any ID to you, i dont have a passport as i havent left or planned to leave the country since i was five, neither do i have a driving license, as i said above its lost.

I dont fancy going down to Scan to sort this, as last time i left empty handed and not very happy, after being told i'd get a straight swap on the phone.

The only kind of ID i have, is my birth certificate, bank statements, invoices from yourselves which i may be able to get scanned and sent within a few days, if they are of any use?

I understand the card checks, and after thought have realised it may be the bank, as they said my address was wrong on another order, although i typed it exactly the same as other parts i've ordered and that are here now.

So if my birth certificate, bank statements, invoices from yourselves will be okay, please let me know. If not, could you cancel the order or do i need to do that myself?

    Thanks.

without sounding pedantic (which is inevitable, so sorry ) you need to have a driving license to drive in the UK, losing it means you reapply double quick. If you are spot checked by the police, you'll be fined for not producing in 7days ..so a lost driving license is a bit of a No No.

    I'll go away now////sorry

Are they ok? I'd prefer to know now as my mate is busy most of next week, so if anything else is needed, i will only be able to get it done today/tomorrow or next weekend.

    Thanks again.

EDIT: After this, there won't be anything similar for this card will there?
