What happens when you order multiple items and one is out of stock?

Just wondering what would happen if i placed an order for a few items which are all in stock except for one item. Would the order be split, and the out of stock be sent later, or would the whole order wait until all item's are in stock? Or should i just place a separate order for the out of stock item?

The order would be held until all items are in stock (but the stocked items would be reserved).

You may be better to split the order.
