    Aopen M3 Barebones

    Hi all,

I bought an Aopen M3 Barebones system from Scan on Tues this week for my sister as it was on the Today only specials and came with CPU, Memory, Heatsink/Fan and Hard Disk. I received it today and finished setting it up this afternoon, but when it came to switching on there was a POST error message waiting for me:

Channel 1 - no 80 conductor cable installed
Channel 1 was the Secondary Master, which was the supplied Aopen CD-RW/DVD drive, so I quickly changed the IDE cable over to a spare 80 conductor IDE cable and bingo, it worked straight away. Is this Aopen/Scans fault as the supplied IDE cable must have been a 40 conductor and not an 80 i can only presume?

Apart from the above issue everything else was fine and a brilliant service from Scan.

    Regards,

    Michael

The writer comes pre-packaged from Aopen, so it looks like someone on their end included the wrong cable. Glad you had a spare and got it sorted though.

(I'm tempted to get one of these for one of my relatives that needs a very basic machine.. they don't look bad at all for the price!)

Yeah, my sisters very impressed by the blue lit power light and the blue LEDs on the keyboard as well! Overall, looks a pretty nifty little case and its not too bad to work inside either.

    Regards,

    Michael
