Unhappy Very disappointed with my RMA request :(

    Hi

I bought a Nisis DV5 camera on the 17th Nov for a Christmas present.

However, it can't be used. The picture is far too dark.

I have tried for a refund but have been told I can't have one because I bought the camera over 28 days ago - even thought it wasn't opened until Christmas Day.

I've been told I can only have a replacement....I don't want another one. I want to get a different camera from SCAN.

Is there really nothing that can be done about this?

    Tim

Of course this is not the answer I was hoping for, but then again I did not get the quality of product I was hoping for either.

Perhaps it would have been helpful if you had stated in the product information that the screen/capture was so dark that it could not be used indoors and you would only be able to see what you were filming on a bright, sunny day.

As the product is so inferior to that which I was expecting, I would have hoped that SCAN would have been a little more understanding. I have used SCAN before because I knew the quality of the goods would be superb - however, if you continue stocking poor quality products like this and having such a harsh approach to returns I doubt your boast of "being recognized as an award winning retailer/E-tailer" will be true for much longer.

I'm sorry to be harsh, but I feel very let down by the company and am left £50 out of pocket and my girlfriend is stuck with a useless peice of plastic.

I don't think you should judge the whole company on one dodgy product. I mean these guys must have literally millions of products pass through their warehoues every year, and as such would not have the time to test said products, meaning they have to go on the manufactuere's description.

If the product is bed then fair enough, if it's not satifactory then I agree a refund/replacement should be in order, but you have to see it from their side.

it has to be fit for the purpose intended, and if a camara can not take satisfactory pictures in the dark you could have an arguament there

Yeah I agree, but a gripe such as this is surley with the manufactuere and not the distributor.

A camera is not in itself desinged to be used in dark places and as such if you take a picture in the dark then naturally the picture will result in that level of darkness. Flas can compensate for this to a certain degree but never 100%.

I think you're misunderstanding me...the camera can't be used anywhere with artificial light. I have a lot of light in my bedroom when I have all 4 of my lights turned on, and still the picture is too dark to make anything out. I'm sure MonkeyBum will back me up on that.

It simply can't be used anywhere inside. Simple as.

Indeed - you beat me to it. It was £50 - sorry but if you wanted a camera for this amount then dont expect it to be a digital SLR.

It's not a digicam, it's a camcorder. I'm sorry, but if I spend anything on something I expect it to work.

Yup, in the registery office it was well lit, and it's just terrible. It takes colours very dim and there's no detail what so ever, along with the lighting problem where you can hardly see a thing. I do appreciate your help in the matter I'm glad koocha brought up the issue though. I agree with that if you buy something and it's advertised to do something, it should work...
