    ordering from 3XS

    Hi guys

I'm thinking about ordering a 3XS system from you, hopefully in the not too distant future. I've been using the system builder on your website to try to spec up a machine for a while now. I was wondering if this is deffinitive or whether if there are components that aren't in the system builder these could be used instead. For example i would prefer to use a samsung spinpoint HDD instead of a seagate. Also i noticed that MS works is installed as standard with a free office trial, is it possible to not have this installed and for the system to just have XP installed with no additional software, as i would rather use open office.

Another of the problems i have been having is trying to decide on the spec, mainly deciding what i need and what i want as i'm trying to keep the cost down as much as possible, but finding it difficult as i am a keen gamer and would like the parts neccessary to play games at good settings. To this end i was wondering how much advice you would be able to give for me to get the best system that my budget and needs dictate.

Anyway hopefully i haven't asked too many questions for one post and i look forward to your reply.

    Thanks

    Andy

Sorry i should have said, was trying to keep my post length down. Budget would be around £1000-£1500ish, although i'd ideally like it to be in the region of £1200. The one thing i deffinately want is an X2 4200, and then things i want but don't need are 2Gb ram (1Gb would do i suppose) and I prefer ATI Gfx cards but am not inflexible on this so Gfx wise an X1800xl or 7800GT are probably in budget and if i was to stretch i would get an X1800XT or 7800GTX.

I only need the base unit, so no monitor although i'm tempted to get a new keyboard and mouse but this isn't necessary.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Andy

P.s. is there anyone i could email about this as it probably isn't appropriate to discuss system specs on the forums. I would call but i am at work during the week.

Certainly - if you use the OLQ system HERE with general feel of whats been discussed and outlined above we'll then be able to narrow down a build thats good for you
