A8N32-SLI plus Corsair Pro with Scythe Ninja plus.

Some final checks before placing an order.

The remit was for a quiet setup, so looking at fanless motherboards ie the A8N32-SLI but want the Corsair 3500LLPro RAM which is taller than most.

Now if I go for the Scythe Ninja Plus on this setup can I have the fan fixed to blow to the back of the case without interferring with the RAM ? It looks very tight to me !

It would be worth you looking at the SPCR forums (motherboard section and also case gallery). Reason for looking in SPCR is because loads of people their have those components as their (silent) components of choice. There are loads of posts there about the A8N, Ninja, RAM, and GPU clearance etc

Personally I would be surprised if it didn't fit (though I can't guarantee this as I haven't seen your ram), but you need to bear in mind the cpu is higher than the base of where the dimms plug into the mobo and also that the scythe is narrow at the bottom (heatpipes) before flaring outwards the higher you go.

If I remember, I'll take piccies to show you how the ninja sits in relation to ram clearance.

    Morning,

Simple answer it doesnt fit, the coolers HUGE without the fan attached to the side it catches on the RAM in the first slot,

If you were to get some ram that wasnt as tall it would fit, its not the fins of the cooler thats stopping it its the clips for attaching the cooler to the base, I doubt your gonna get the fan on either the front or back of the cooler due to RAM at the front and the Heat Sinks at the back,

Id recomend sticking with the board and mem and getting a diff cooler,

If you need any thing else let me know,

    Regards

Oh forgot to mention if you wernt bothered about using the blue slots 1 and 3 and used memory in 2 and 4 then the cooler would fit fine, However you still couldnt put the FAN on,

Quietest 120mm fan you can get is the Nexus 120mm.

Best picture I've found for demonstrating the answer to your question.
Exact setup you're looking for I think.

Awwww. Well it's all been done now .
On a related matter, did anyone else find attaching the fan over the RAM slots extremely difficult.
Those fan clips REALLY did not want to go on.....They're fine if I attach the fan to the underside, but with the design of the Ninja, it was extremely difficult to get the fan to blow towards the rear of my P180.
