    external SATA ports...

looking at getting external storage for all my photos, thinking icybox and an sata drive is the way forwards - when its full swap it with an empty one type thing - just wondering whether its possible to get some sort of external SATA port, like you can for USB connections, and have it connect to the back of the computer case?
does scan do something like that?

edit: looks a little like this...

The SATA cable that comes with the IcyBox's is quite long, so if the drive is going to sit next to the PC you could alwyas just feed the SATA cable out of a small hole, or remove a blanking plate in front of a PCI slot. The IcyBoxs come with a power supply, so you don't need to feed power out of there.

Not the tidiest of solutions, but it would get you going until you got a little bracket

    UPDATE:

    just got one of these:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=310738

and it comes with an internal/backplate connector in the box...so it solves that problem - now all I have to do is tell the mobo to use sata!
