Instead of Auto, try using "By SPD". This should set the correct RAM timings.

Just tried "By SPD" - detected memory as DDR400 (displayed on startup) but failed to load Windows, restarted PC instead.

Currently running memory at DDR333 and system is stable.

Do I need to increase/decrease the voltage (from 1.7V) to get it to be stable under DDR400?

Did you try my "Manual trick" ?
Like i said, this is a common issue with some boards - try it and hopefully it'll work

As for the voltage question, you shouldn’t need to raise it past 2.7 (I assume 1.7 was a typo ), unless its rated at that, but that is very doubtful just for DDR400 operation.

Are there any stickers on the memory stating the speed?. With it running stable at 333 but not at 400 you might have recived some 333memory

If you're getting errors then the memory's faulty, simple. Return it
