    Dell 2407WFP with Colour Banding

    Hi,
I returned a Dell 2407WFP with a Colour Banding which a lot of these monitors have (just go to google and type 2407WFP Colour). Dell have now changed the firmware in these monitors to help deal with the problem. Scan tested the monitor and say there is "No Fault Found".

When I e-mail them to point out that I had sent it back because of Colour Banding they do not replay. I just keep getting an "automated email" saying my monitor will be disposed of within seven days unless I contact the Returns Dept.

I have also contacted Dell who say I can get it replaced through the place I bought it from also on the dell support forum there is a sticky saying anyone with this problem can get their monitor replaced, if you read through the Dell forums you will see many have.

The monitor also leans to the right

    Thanks.

Please PM me your invoice / RMA number and I will chase this up with Returns for you.

Its likely the monitor will need to be returned to Dell for a firmware upgraded, which is collect and return FOC via Dell.

    Regards

I have passed the details over to the testing dept and provided them with the Dell link you gave in your OLQ, they are investigating this and I will get back to you when I have more off them.

I think the RMA Returns Status page siad the monitor was going to be replaced but I got it back today WITHOUT any changes to it and missing the DVI lead????

It still has the colour banding. And the same version A01, the updated fix was A02 and even talk of A03.

I can confirm our Technicians tested this monitor for a 48 hour period and could not detect any color banding problems, we spoke to Dell UK who were not aware of the issues discussed in the USA forum you linked to.

Of course we have a DVI cable we can send you and apologies for that not being put back into the package.

Also if you require we can get DELL UK customer support to give you a call if you wish.

You could run the monitor all week if you did not know what your looking for your not going to see it.

Thats a bit strange considering they have changed others?

After contacting Dell support again I was told to say

Just tell them that the 2407WFP does NOT pass the Monitor Self Test. Don't mention anything else.
    support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/2407WFP/en/solve.htm#Monitor%20Specific%20Troubleshooting

"i had to edit the h t t p out of the link cuz ive not made enough posts to post links"

Thats from DELL-ChrisM at Dell support.

I will pass this message over to our Supplier department, i cant understand why Dell are telling you to mention anything, because these monitors have onsite warranty and ultimately they should replace it for you direct.

Please PM me your Address and i will post out a cable, as for your monitor i have been trying to get this resolved, but ultimately i keep getting referred back to Dell whom should replace the monitor for you directly.

Infact below is the exact message i have received from our suppliers:

With this in mind, would it be possible to ask the customer to call the Dell support line where they should be able to arrange an exchange for the customer? They should call Dell on 0870 90 80 800 and quote the monitor serial number and sales order number 335264384.
