Question MSI P6N (LN17138) - Nvidia Reference board???

    Hello all,

I have a quick question regarding MSI's P6N motherboard (LN17138) currently for sale at scan (as well as other, lesser retailers ):

The product image *appears* to show the same reference 680i Motherboard used by EVGA, ECS and the like, but is there anyone who has seen one in the flesh, and can confirm if it is indeed the same reference board?

Official info on this board is all but non-existent. There's absolutely no mention of it at any MSI site, let alone BIOS updates, which makes me a little concerned. Particularly if it suffers the same issues that have plagued the early EVGA 680i BIOS revisions....

However, If it is indeed the same Nvidia reference board, I should be able to update the BIOS from an EVGA/ECS update...

Any further info on this board would be much appreciated!

    Best Regards,

    Graysters

    Lightbulb

Just to answer my own post...

decided to take the risk and bought a MSI P6N, and it is indeed an NVidia reference 680i (same as the EVGA, ECS et. al. 680i board, just a little cheaper!), once I get it up and running tonight I'll see if I can flash it with the latest EVGA or ECS bios....

    Cheers,

    Graysters

I had one of these yesterday and it is identical to the EVGA board (at least by looks and features although ive not looked into this to see if there are any actual differences between the two)

Whether u can flash using the evga bios i have no idea...although if both boards are identical i dont see why not

(However using a none-standard Bios is, of course, at your own risk...)

    Hi Graysters,
Was very interested in this board, does it have the creative X-Fi sound on board? the scan page seems a little vague ;-)
    Thanks

    no, it's a reference design.
It's the P6N Diamond that will have the onboard X-Fi.

Ah! I thought that that was what this was :-(
That would explain the different spec!
Any idea when the Diamond version will be unleashed?

I'll take that as a no then!

Have found a few sites where the delivery is quoted as 2-3 days so I am presuming that this means they have no delivery idea but would like the money or is that unfairly cynical of me ;-)
