    Decent Divx Player (With Scart)

hey, as titled im looking for a decent divx box for my tv, ive currently got a DK Digital one from ebuyer, but it gets kind of jerky when playing some divx files.

Can anyone recommend me one which plays most codecs well? Im not too bothered about if it has 5.1 or not, just bothered about the price, about £45 or less.

    Thanks!

PC World used to do a Packard Bell DIVX and XVID capable dvd player with a 5.1 decoder which also had Progressive Scan (may have been multi-region, can't remember!) and supported other formats as well. It deffo had a scart though.
The player was supposed to be good, so you can try browsing their clearance stock online perhaps or calling at your local store, the last time i saw one was a few weeks back for £49.99 in the Watford store.

Another alternative is perhaps the Hauppage MVP box that connects to your pc over ethernet and broadcasts the media into your tv, perhaps this is a solution for you?
The box has a remote and supports mp3, mpeg 1, divx etc and is supposed to be good as well. Catch is it wont play dvd's since it isnt a dvd player, but if you're looking mainly for a divx player then perhaps u should invest in one of these and keep the DK Digital you have. Hauppage MVP's retail between £30 - £50.

Now this is the one you want...

    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/5454...divx-sacd.html

... it's the best on the market fullstop for playing divx and xvid.

The problem that you get with stuttering video is more than likely down to xvid files with packed bistream which allmost all players can't handle, the Sigmatek one works fine with packed bitstream.

As Stephen B says the Targa one is also brilliant but hard to come by, some Lidl's do have some in still (burried underneath lots of cheap crap).

Yamada 6700. They've been decoding divx/xvid for year and have "mature" firmware development. Cheap as well - about £40inc.

You also need to be looking for something with a MediaTek MT1389EE chipset. See:-
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers....Submit2=Search

Ignore all the other crap that you see in Currys, Asda etc etc. You'll regret it when you find that it doesn't decode the codes properly, or can only decode certain bitrates, or the sound is off sync, no subtitle support etc

I got a nice one from Aria a while back for £16 + VAT, have a look through all the clearance places on sites like Scan\Aria etc.

Please make sure before you buy one that it does play XVID's with packed bitstream, if it doesn't you're gonna be dissapointed
