Question Need some Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

Is there anywhere in Birmingham/Dudley/Wolverhampton area I can go and pick some artic silver 5 up from before/on the weekend.

Must be some Midlanders on here who know a local shop stocking this.

    From http://www.arcticsilver.com/as5.htm:

"Arctic Silver 5 was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity.
(While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths.)"

You seem to suggest it doesnt, but then managed to shoot your arguement in the foot with the last statement. Granted, it was designed to conduct heat, but (what I'm guessing you are saying) that as a by-product it has limited electrical conductivity, such that it could prove a problem?

    Dave

oh btw, if you order it and some other stuff from scan, you'll get free postage and recieve it by the weekend. Scan guys correct me if I'm wrong, but that has been my usual experience.

Was that according to Arctic Silver AS5 is (like Ceramique) non-conductive ("ps: i use arctic ceramique, just as good, but non conductive" would lead the OP to assume otherwise).

Will include colourful drawings next time.

Not sure what the first bit means but the second bit clearly says dont put it near electrics because it could short.....i.e can conduct small amounts of electricity

I did have a look on the Scan site before I placed my order today but they don't stock it unless someone can give me the LN**** Scan Code Number.

MuddyFox470 - cheers looks they have it in stock as well. Have just placed order
    Should be here by Friday..

if you are retarded enough to get compound over your motherboard or other places you should not be building a pc.
