Shiny cases are asking for trouble. I know that my room is dusted only rarely and shiny cases are also terrible for fingerprints!

I find it a little ironic that for over £4k you get the free (but admittedly good) Speedfan

I think with more of these Luxury PC brands coming out - it's a great thing, they can all fight against each other and bring out better, faster, more tweaked out PC's remember not everyone wants to build their own PC

Same as the people who buy other luxury items - sports cars, etc

I couldnt agree more - looks like a cost cutting measure to me, and we all know what happens when you scrimp on the PSU

A couple of other things seem very miserly for the price, such as a 2 years return to base warranty. On a system of this much, I would expect an on site warranty.

2GiB (2 x 1GiB) OCZ PC2-8500 Reaper @ 783.4MHz - 4-4-4-12-2T - Underclocked RAM? And only 2GiB of it? Why not just fit PC2-6400 (800Mhz) RAM and put the savings towards a proper sized screen (at the very least 1920x1200) that will take advantage of the 2x Ultra cards, instead of the 1680x1050 screen provided.

Re: Ultraviolet Genesis XOC system. Yours for £4,500!

All in all, I wouldn't spend my money on a system like that. It's too close to being a trick designed to look good on the surface without actually delivering value for money. A bit like buying a car that looks like a Ferrari but drives like a Punto.

Personally I feel there's better players in the luxury PC market, heck, even Dell's XPS systems are a sounder purchase than the overly shiny rig.

Re: Ultraviolet Genesis XOC system. Yours for £4,500!

What is the point in 2 8800 Ultras on a screen that size? Plus £4,500 is just a grotesque amount of money to spend on a PC, you would definitely need something wrong with you to pay that. Either that or you just plain don't know what to do with your money.

Re: Ultraviolet Genesis XOC system. Yours for £4,500!

I bought a Silverstone TJ07, 2 8800GTS(640MB), An ABIT IN9 32x-Max, an X-Fi Fatality and a Q6600. I have the same RAM (OCZ Reaper 8500) and even a Swiftech cooling kit and an Alphacool screen.

Although the PC is no slowcoach, it doesn't really run the Crysis demo as smoothly as I'd like. I'm already considering selling it and buying one of these beauties...who cares about a bit of plastic, it still looks good!

I (obviously) modelled my PC on the Genesis XOC, scared by the price and power requirements, and I still feel short changed, as the Genesis will always be faster, cooler and quieter(probably). It took me 2 days to build and has been a nightmare to overclock, as the RAM is very picky about timings and the northbridge is really hot(and not measured by the motherboard) and I'm pretty worried about the VRMs as well as they're pretty warm.

So I would have to say that although I don't own one, it's a fair balance between building a realistic version yourself and shelling out for this one. (but if the people at Ultraviolet want to send me one to make the comparison, I'd be happy to be proved wrong)
