Microsoft's Windows Home Server corrupts files

Microsoft has acknowledged in a recent knowledge base article that a bug in its Windows Home Server software causes files to become corrupted when using certain programs to save data to the server.

Not an ideal situation , however it might help people to remeber to take regular backups !

It's obviously not as serious as is being made out, or there'd be mass threads on the issue, but as far as problems and bugs go, that's a stupidly serious one. How wasn't this picked up on during the (public) RC phase?

Hmm - while I can see your point of view (and I haven't read the article as yet, so I'm not sure exactly what the situation is) WHS is sold as a backup solution for home users (among other things). Anyhoo, I've not seen this on my box.

Oh congrats on not being smug.

BTW I installed WHS and love it. I spend many hours at work tinkering with other OS and don't feel like doing the same at home. So how is your version of MHS running??....You do have a copy to make an informed opinion, right?

You pretty much answered your own question there. Given the apparent absence of threads on the issue it's clearly not a common problem and so presumably not one that could be picked up on with a limited install base.
