If this can match the TRUE, this will be a big success!
Its gonna be a pain to fit
You'd need a stong board to fit a cooler like that, it seems alot smaller after viewing the fan in the last picture though, perfect for cooling your supercomputer.
what an innovative idea....one can only wonder what inspired them to try thatUnclip the little cover along the top - with some difficulty, we might add - and you'll find the ultra-quiet 120mm PWM fan lying between the twin-tower cooling design.

Damn right. I have one. Keeps things cool and quiet, but I don't think the plugs are up to the job with this cooler. On mine, one plug keeps popping out, causing the heatsink to lose contact with the CPU. Thus the CPU overheats and the system shuts down. Trying to re-seat the entire thing yesterday (pain in the arse) after unsuccessfully trying to push back in the errant pin, I shattered the plastic bracket. Now have to RMA the entire thing. Good cooler - but the fitting is poor. A backplate would be a lot more effective. Maybe in version 2, eh? Then this thing would indeed be, to quote an Americanism, 'awesome'.
If there is enough space on the xtreme edition like there is with the Freezer 7 Pro, simply remove the push-pin mounting system and replace it with something like the thermalright LGA775 bolt-through kit.
I did that as soon as my Freezer 7 Pro was installed as I don't trust the push-pin system and it's been solid ever since
Can only echo others.....nice cooler, very quiet, crappy fitting.
I actually broke one of the lugs when installing my Mums.....I bodged it in eventually but it certainly needs a bit of design work on the mounting mechanism.

its just a shame that good coolers require you to buy this extra bracket. I love buying products like this with it all included. Any information on whether Scan will be selling the xigmatek dark knight which includes backplate, better fan etc?

The Extreme does not use thew standard intel push pins, it uses a plastic bracket that attaches to the motherboard with custom plastic pins, then the cooler is held on by a retention bar that screws onto the bracket.
It's a mounting system that has come in for both praise and criticism, depending on who you speak too.
I'm sure I saw a thread on another forum where someone used a blot through kit to hold the plastic bracket on, I'll see if I can find it.

There's the thread
Here's images of the bracket held on by a thermalright backplate

I'm guessing he used the back plate and some normal screws not long compression screws that came with it.

You mean this one?

not sure if a bolt through will work on that, it should as long as it uses short screws so you can connect the 4 seperate plastic mounts without out the screws getting in the way of the cooler.
This reviews shows how it's attached to the motherboard
