300 notes That's what I was expecting but I was hoping against all the odds that it would be cheaper.

As an aside does anyone know if this will need two cables from the sat dish ala Sky+?

    Oh, dash it all.
This is in many ways the Holy Grail of no-subscription TV, and the one i've been waiting for.
At 300 bad boys, looks like i may be waiting a little longer.
I have around £700 to spend on the entire home cinema set-up, i already have a really good upscaling DVD player, but i think i'll get a good TV with normal freeview built in, and save up more pennies for this in the future.

    I like projects...

All those things MSIC said are possible to get the way you want in a HTPC but i guess it wudnt quite be the same. The way i look at it if you build a nice HTPC then upgrade to keep up with new formats/technolgy/codecs etc

Hopefully it'll spark Sky into cutting its HD costs, and then result in the Humax box dropping down a touch too.

As far as I'm aware, Sky's HD box costs £399 without a HD subscription - so Humax/Freesat figures its cheaper by a £100.

I agree with MISC, though. I'm wanting to get the FOXSAT-HDR box, but it's a bit too pricey for now.
