If i had an MSI board i would deffo test it out. If peoples reports on it are good then my next upgrade will be MSI without a doubt.
About time EFI started to become accessible on things other then Macs...
Would be nice to boot from my array without having to divide it up into smaller raid sets.

Yup, you need to partition the drive with the GPT partition type though instead of the usual MBR we all normally use.Originally Posted by Platinum

This is years too late. Why the heck is EFI taking so long?
surprise surprise it's because of lack any real support in windows. hopefully we will get some real support now that at least one manufacturer has it supported

Microsoft sneaked in EFI support at the last minute. Check your install DVD and you will see the folder. You can install Vista directly onto Apple Intel computers without bootcamp if you want.

The PC-BIOS always had a startup time, dead slow. EFI is a *lot* (and I mean A LOT) more sanely developed, both as a base, and from its extensions. Also, as a sidenote, Linux has supported booting from EFI-enabled motherboards since the first Intel mac, thanks to the efforts of Intel and other community developers. So it's about damn time a motherboard manufacturer has grown a pair of stones and decided to do some real work on EFI.Nice, let's just hope that the BIOS doesn't now have a start up time

its odd because new tech and ideas always has to justify its cost.

Does anyone know if EFI is included in the newer MSI boards with Intel i7 support? Also, are any other manufacturers joining the bandwagon?
my understanding from the article is that these motherboards are the first but there will be more updates for other motherboards to come
Yeah, it'll take time to adapt Intel's X58/i7 reference code to their motherboards. And I'm sure the majority of MSI's engineers are having to maintain the legacy PC-BIOS mess.
But I look forward to it. If MSI keeps up the momentum, I'll probably get one of their boards.
