Not sure what to make of this, it seems they have made improvements,
Pros: Black Chassis, Dust Filters, Better cable management, wider holes at front for less impedance on airflow/dust gathering.
Cons: Big LED fan looks too flashy and I hate the way they've completley wrecked the lines of the case having it rise out of the top like that, I have a 900 Mk.1 and yes the case has many faults but at least the top has an OK profile.
Tbh I am going to mod my 900 this summer anyway so may fit some of the improvements myself, and still have the better looking case of the two!
so they just took 3 drive bays out of the antec 1200. I'm sure that required a lot of creative development by antec.
is it worth it considering the 1200 is bigger and better designed... I'd spend the extra money...
Antec 900.2 is just a cust down 1200 really so its not really better designed just more room, and 1 extra fan at the back, I'm still not convinced that fan helps much with the big fan so close.
It all depends how much its going to cost, 1200 goes for £133.
I have had a 900 for the last year. I also have two 300s and a 1200 First thing I did with the 900 was to ditch the fans with their crazy fan speed swithches which meant you have to open the case to change speeds. I had yards of correspondence with Antec so am glad if they have changed that. Their fitted fans are not the quietest but the rest of the design of their cases is pretty good.
I am very really happy with the New ANTEC 900 TWO version , this new version dont have the HORRIBLE and SILLY Tilted Roof of the first 900 version , plus have bigger front bezel holes to allow better airflow due to lower impedance , this case must become a even better bestseller than the previous version
It may be just a trimmed down 1200 but it's definitely an improvement over the Mk 1. Why is it though that cases like these aren't available with non-LED fans? Am I the only person that wants a case that just does its job without attracting too much attention?
For now, gonna stick with my (very discrete) Three Hundred.
I agree about the silly tilted roof bit. It probably gives you more case space. As for the front bezels the 900 ones were better in the sense that if you placed air filters in between the grills they were close enough to the outer bay covers for your vacuum to be able to clean them from the outside.
That top-mounted LED fan looks hideous - and i actually turned off my front mounted fans on my 900 case due to the annoying lights and extra noise (the extra cooling wasn't worth it - i'm not a big overclocker).
I have to admit to loving the 900'. I have the mk1 (corrected rear, no water cooling holes) and I think it's great.
This is my first self build and this case has taught me lots and has put up with me drilling many many holes thru it. I have learnt a lot from modding this case. The cases are just so solid. I'm about to attempt water cooling for the first time and the case is in for a rough time again.
I would love the filters of the 900.2 but I'm not a lover of the new top. It's lost it's sleek lines and become a bit anaemic looking.
For those that quibble about the led fans, at least with the 900 you get four fans included, many cases only come with two fans. You have to buy the rest. Ok, I'll admit I love the whole blue lighting thingie. I'm so shallow. Oooh shiny, me wants.
As I said in the p1000 thread, it does look like Antec have listened to people and watched the modding sites. Added filters, painted black inside (like virtually everyone has sprayed theirs, me included), loads of access to the back of the mobo tray for cabling but from what I can see they missed out on the fan controllers at the front from the 1200.
The 1200 tbh annoys me. They dropped the position of the mobo tray standoffs, presumably to make it easier to access p8 connections but in doing so they messed up the extra space lower down in the case. If you had a 900 with an extra 3 drive bay thingie, you'd be sorted for internal water cooling. The case is easily long enough to fit a pa120.3 on it's side. A real missed opportunity.
Glad I got that off my chest. (think I've had too much coffee today)
