Does anyone know if this update will be free when it's released?
From Gizmodo.com:
iPhone OS 3.0 will be a free upgrade to all iPhone users, including the first generation (not all features will be supported in the first generation, like Stereo Bluetooth support). iPod touch users will be able to buy it for $9.95.
Wow, that's great news. I bought my iPhone as a 'toy' when they slashed the price without any expectations that I would use it much more than my previous phones. In fact, I left it boxed for a pretty long time before I decided to 'play' with it. Well, for all the stuff that can be improved by OS 3.0, my iPhone sees a serious amount of use as my Japanese study tool. There are some very decent dictionaries, flashcards etc., so good in fact that I've put off the purchase of a standalone electronic dictionary.
The one thing I would like them to improve (not that it would be much use for most people here), is an improved Kanji recognition application. Right now, Window's IME works much better than the one on built into the iPhone, even though I can 'draw' more accurately with the touchscreen than with a mouse.
I am very happy about this! I already find my iPhone the best phone I have owned and these additions make it so much better!
Not around too often!
If the new hardware has a hardware QWERTY then my X1 is going in the classifieds, it's the ONLY thing the iPhone is now missing that i actually want (assuming multi-tasking is on the agenda or they bundle in a background-running IM app). I can't stand the on-screen keyboards, the lack a feedback just annoys me!
Any more info on the diabetic accessory?
edit, nevermind, changed my search terms and found it
