Let's just say that I could have a video conference with Skype using my desktop computer, powered only by my UPS, for longer than the battery on that thing. And at 1.6kg it's hardly portable, and certainly not worth the money. If I felt the need for one of these things, I'd buy a netbook. Even though I consider those overpriced, they offer far more than this videophone for little more money and are considerably more portable because the battery actually lasts longer than enough time to say hi how are you.
And for a videophone dedicated device, why does it not record video in the same resolution as the screen? Either that means most products record at higher res so it needs to display in higher res, or it has hardly been thought through.

I reckon it would be plugged in 24/7 - but I totally agree with your points, and in fact, what is the point of this apart from giving it to your granny who can't use a pc....wait, maybe that's it!
