I wish they'd stop mucking about with HDDs and get out some more SSDs! Intel's aggressive pricing on the 32nm parts is welcoming (although not that welcoming to me as I have one of their 54nm parts which they won't support with new firmware - Bah!), but what we really need is more competition from the big name hard drive manufacturers in the SSD market!

you might want to change that to "World's first 2TB 7200RPM 3.5in hard drive now shipping." The WD has been out for a while after all

I have to admit I went off Deathstars after all the problems IBM had with them, all of the drives I had from several different model failed. I vowed never to get another one, even though Hitachi make them now. Plus any disk I get has to be mirrored.

    WHAT!?!? $270!?! er....

2.5" 1TB drives are being manufactured right now, you can fit 4 of them in the same cubic volume as this one 3.5" drive..they will be VERY quiet and produce lower vibrations...

WOW 3.% drives are dying FAST...I actually thought 4TB drives should be announced any time soon for about £120....

Paying for the highest capacity always carries a huge price premium.

What you will notice is that once there are a handful of 2TB drives on the market, the 1.5TB drives will plummet in price.

Plus 1TB 2.5" drives are only a bit cheaper then the price on this 3.5" 2TB drive.....physical size also comes at a price premium

This is a five platter drive? I bet that takes a fair while to spin up!
