Fingers crossed this is the game we all expected with the first one. Huge fan of STALKER, the second one clear sky was a let down for me with it mainly being set in the swamps (essentially all the maps they cut out of the first game).

Seem's it's due in a few weeks and no news on their site about a demo.

I loved the first installment, much more than Fallout3 it has to be said. Looking forward to this

You clearly haven't played Clear Sky much, The Swamps is the first level followed by a number of the levels from the first game and finished off with 3 more new levels. A lot of the blame for negative comments about Clear Sky were due to quite a few bugs when first released. I still play it now and prefer it over the first installment. The bugs were eventually sorted and the game looks awesome on recent hardware.

Roll on Call Of Pripyat, can't beat getting stuck into these ghames for hours at a time.

The bugs in clear sky were far and few between over the first one but I will admit I am the role reversal of yourself and prefer the first instalment. I don't know what it is, I still play the first one over the second one all the time. Played the first one so much I have had all the endings from it

This one however looks to be more of the first and a lot more polished which fingers crossed should be a surprise hit for me and a few others I know who also prefer the original. Part of me feels the clear sky release was a little bit of a let down as it was more of the same but didn't have the tension of the first. Call of Pripyat seems to have returned to the close quarters, scare tactics of Shadow of Chernobyl, big thumbs up from me if it has.

Loved the atmosphere of the first game, even with the rough edges; the X18 laboratory was bleedin' terrifying! Was put off Clear Sky by all the talk of bugs, but if they've patched those out I might grab it now it's cheap. Hopefully the new one will be a bit more polished on release.

Loved stalker SOC, a really great game, dripping with oppressive atmosphere... Clear Sky was not so great. Have high hopes for call of Pripyat...

Just completed Shadow of Chernobyl and I have to agree it is probably the most atmospheric game I've ever played, a great game. However one thing they should definitely improve on is the story telling, it just didn't work very well.
"The less you eat, drink and buy books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx

I've enjoyed the previous Stalker games and seeing that this has been out in Russia since October I'm hopping alot of the bugs have been fixed as I had to fix some bugs manually in the second game just so I could complete it. Does anyone know if there are undergound sections in this? Missed them in the second game.
