IIRC That's a much higher introduction price than the 4870?
AMD must be very confident on the speed of this thing...
Looks like I am holding out for the 5850 then, I can't justify that.
It's an exact translation of the advertised USD price.
USD400 x FX + VAT = GBP 282.20.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
the price will be lower than £280 at retailers, one hint is that the official 5870 price is US$349 not $399 and also that retailers who set up pre-orders before NDA is lifted usually put inflated pruces on the product, normally 10 to 25%.
Going to stop myself buying on launch day this time, Want to wait for the X2 , Why? Well I run 1900 x 1200 and want to have all details at max with silly AA and AF levels.
Oh and most importantly, massive e-peen

Still more interested to see what kind of performance a passively cooled 5xxx card can give, so roll on the 57xx series (hopefully, if not a 56xx).

I could justify £285 but I bet the UK price is higher
I was dissappointed with my dual Xfire passively cooled 4850's, even with multi core supported games. They were obviously silent but my single card Geforce 285, which was cheaper than 2 4850's, is quiet and a hell of a lot more powerful.
I would still be interested in the 5850 performance gains with the enhanced chip design and coupled with GDDR5.
However, I think im gonna hang on til the 5890's.
