Honestly, I don't know why people wait for the operators to do this. It is so easy to get yourself onto official 2.2. You don't even need to root. Just create a gold card and flash it. And there are tools that will even automate the entire process out there!

There has been a subsequent update to FroYo since the roll out anyways. Is the T-Mobile version going to include that? Doubtful.

I've spent 20 minutes reading up on how to do this, but it's put me off trying it because it sounds too complicated, having to use linux live cds and stuff.... do you know of a guide for novices like myself to do this?

Re: News - T-Mobile rumoured to roll out Froyo for HTC Desire soon

I'm sure there are easy ways to do this, and I have flashed my previous HTC handsets with custom ROMS, but I guess I'm lazy, I just can't be bothered and will wait for T-Mobile to release an update.

What I am tempted to do is de brand and install the plain HTC build.
