Re: News - NVIDIA launches NVS 300 enterprise graphics-card

The NVS 300 will also ship with NVIDIA's nView desktop management software and make use of Mosaic technology, which will enable a multitude of different display configurations. This includes dividing monitors into work groups, spanning applications across different screen or creating a single large desktop spread over all eight displays.
You know, that functionality sounds kind of familiar, but I just can't think where I've heard of it before...?

Also, I see the article says you'll need multiple cards to run an 8 monitor set up - so how many monitors can each individual card power?

That's a great question, and despite looking through the NVIDIA PR and the NVS 300 website, I couldn't find out (thus why it doesn't say in the article).

I think only 2, because the dongles/break-out cables only have two connectors each. However, you might be able to daisy chain the DP monitors, so maybe it can do 4 per card.

The information in the article is wrong I think. The card can support 2 monitors only.

How the hell do you get 8 ?

The article has just been changed to make it a bit clearer. The cards support 8 monitors and you can spread the desktop across 8 screens, but you will need four cards to do it.

That defeats the purpose then, doesn't it. Business PC's like DELL, HP or Lenovo ones have 1PCIEx16 and 1 PCIEX1 and couple of PCI slots only. I fail to see how NVIDIA came up with using 4 cards!
